We’re seeking a Mortgage Default Collector to join an established mortgage servicing organization that partners with credit unions to deliver responsive, borrower-focused servicing solutions. This opportunity is ideal for a mortgage servicing or collections professional who combines strong communication and problem-solving skills with empathy and a commitment to regulatory compliance.

In this role, you’ll work directly with borrowers experiencing financial challenges, helping them understand their options, establish payment arrangements, and navigate potential solutions while maintaining accurate account records and protecting sensitive financial information.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage inbound and outbound calls to borrowers regarding delinquent mortgage payments, payment questions, and available assistance options
  • Establish payment arrangements, resolve account concerns, and identify potential loss mitigation opportunities
  • Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of borrower interactions, account statuses, and follow-up activities
  • Follow established call procedures, regulatory requirements, and applicable federal and state mortgage servicing guidelines
  • Proactively contact borrowers regarding escrow or adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) payment changes, delinquent property taxes, and outstanding post-payoff disbursement checks
  • Communicate with attorneys regarding accounts involved in bankruptcy or foreclosure, as needed
  • Partner with credit unions and internal teams to provide account updates, reporting, and timely resolution of outstanding issues

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–5 years of experience in mortgage servicing, collections, loss mitigation, or a related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive financial conversations professionally and empathetically.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, prioritize follow-up activities, and work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Understanding of mortgage collections regulations, servicing procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and borrower confidentiality.
  • Familiarity with FICS or MSP servicing platforms is a plus.
